Zainab Farahi

Head of Education Department | Human Rights Activist

Zainab Farahi

Zainab Farahi is the Head of the Education Department at HOVIAT and a dedicated Afghan human rights activist with extensive experience in education, advocacy, and women’s empowerment. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputable university in Afghanistan and has been formally engaged in human rights and advocacy work since 2017, with a strong focus on defending the rights of women, children, and other vulnerable groups.

Throughout her career, Zainab has collaborated with well-established institutions, including The Asia Foundation, the Afghan Independent Bar Association, the Attorney General’s Office for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and HREVO. Her work has consistently centered on raising legal awareness, supporting survivors of gender-based violence, and promoting gender equality.

In recent years—particularly following restrictions on women’s access to education—Zainab has played a key role in managing online education programs in collaboration with a virtual university. Through these initiatives, she has helped provide educational opportunities to girls and women who have been deprived of formal schooling.

Currently, Zainab Farahi leads the Education Department at HOVIAT while also facilitating educational workshops and creative writing courses. She is responsible for designing, managing, and delivering motivational classes, creative writing programs, and English language courses. She has successfully conducted two intensive creative writing courses, enabling dozens of students to strengthen their writing skills and produce original literary works. Her ongoing efforts in developing digital education programs, establishing online libraries, and creating safe learning spaces for girls reflect her deep commitment to women’s empowerment and educational equity. Zainab firmly believes that education is the key to overcoming inequality and plays a vital role in advancing HOVIAT’s mission.
