Global Visiting Scholar Rutgers University
Dr. Shahla Farid is a legal scholar, human rights advocate, and prominent women’s rights activist currently serving as a Visiting Global Scholar at Rutgers University. She was among the first women appointed to Afghanistan’s High Peace Council and played an active role in Afghanistan’s peace dialogue and civil society engagement.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Farid taught and conducted research at Kabul University in the fields of law, politics, gender studies, and human rights.
She has collaborated with international media outlets including BBC, Voice of America, and Al Jazeera, and has been recognized by Front Line Defenders as a Women Human Rights Defender.
